Ebele Egbarin & Associates is well regarded for its practice of telecommunications law in Nigeria. The firm represents some telecommunications companies and is regularly briefed to negotiate, vet, and draft various types of contracts such as Equipment Sales Agreements, Construction of Cable Network Agreements (i.e. construction of Fibre Optic Backbone), Base Transmission Station Construction Contracts, and ancillary contracts thereto, amongst others.
On behalf of some of these firms, we have also interfaced with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) over various issues such as the obtaining of operational licenses and queries over defaults of license obligations. EE&A also has advised in the start-up of several Value Added telecoms companies in the country.
We, as part of a consortium of three firms, represented our national power company, the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) when the corporation commercialized its fibre Optic Cable infrastructure. Our brief included the management of transitional issues as well as the drafting of the contract with a total value of approximately US$ 170,000,000.
We have also represented a very large Nigerian blue chip company in its negotiations and merger with a foreign technical partner for the management of its involvement in the telecommunications industry as infrastructure developers.
The Principal Partner of the firm participated in the negotiation of Interconnectivity Agreements between the NCC and the Mobile Operators. She also participated in the process of advising several major investors in their equity participation in one of the Mobile Operator companies.
We participated and advised in the drafting of the Nigerian Communications Act, 2003.
